Glossary term
Rescore
Pearson's paid human review of a completed PTE. You may request one within 14 days of receiving your result for a fee of US$160; the rescore covers the whole test — there is no option to re-mark a single section — with human raters reviewing responses the automated system scored. If any score changes, the new result stands and the fee is refunded in full; if nothing changes, the fee is kept. A rescore can move scores down as well as up, so it is best reserved for results you believe are genuinely anomalous.
In plain language
Only pay for a rescore if you truly believe the machine misjudged you — scores can drop, and a near-miss is usually better fixed by a re-sit.
