Check which of the four PTE products your university or visa route names before you open myPTE.
Pearson sells four PTE tests: PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI, PTE Core and PTE Home. They are separate products, and a university or visa authority names the one it accepts. Match the exact product name on your offer letter or visa guidance, then check the overall and skill minimums that the receiving body sets.
Changing product after paying means cancelling under the refund bands and booking the right test again. Found more than 14 days out, the mistake costs nothing but time; found later, it costs half or all of the fee. PTE for Canada and PTE for UK visas show which test each route takes.

Pearson sets each country’s price, and it changes from time to time: three countries’ fees rose between July and October 2026. The fee table on this page shows Pearson’s listed prices on 21 October 2026. Any local tax appears at checkout, and myPTE shows the final total before you pay.
A voucher can pay the test fee but not a rescheduling fee. Pearson does not refund voucher payments, and a voucher cannot be replaced or extended, so plan the test date inside the voucher’s validity before you redeem it. If you may need to cancel, a card payment keeps the refund bands open to you.

Make any change more than 14 days before your test start time; after that you can only cancel.
Pearson counts each window from your appointment start time, not from the calendar date. For a test at 2:00 PM on 17 April, cancelling before 2:00 PM on 3 April returns the full fee, cancelling before 2:00 PM on 10 April returns half, and cancelling from 2:00 PM on 10 April returns nothing.
Inside 14 days there is no reschedule option: you cancel under the refund bands and book a new appointment. A medical or family emergency is the exception. Pearson’s Emergency Reschedule form can be sent up to 72 hours after the appointment, and Pearson decides each case at its discretion, with no automatic right to a new date or refund.
Pearson can also cancel or reschedule a test itself, for example when a centre closes or a session’s numbers change. In that case you choose between a refund and a new date or test centre. Pearson considers other direct costs, such as travel already booked, case by case rather than refunding them automatically.

Book one test at a time, after the last result arrives, and no more than 12 in 12 months.
Because a new booking waits for the last result, plan any rescore first: Pearson will not take a rescore request once another test is booked. A rescore must be requested within 14 calendar days of the result, so decide between rescoring and retaking inside that fortnight. The PTE results page explains how rescores work.
The cap is 12 tests in any 12-month window. If a deadline genuinely needs more, submit Pearson’s exception form and wait for permission. Do not open a second myPTE account to get round any of these limits: Pearson says it delays the release of future scores and can be treated as malpractice, which can lead to scores being revoked.

Pay by card or digital wallet at checkout, and make sure the payment cannot bounce.
Pearson’s payment policy accepts a range of credit and debit cards plus Google Pay and Apple Pay. In India, PayU is also offered at checkout. PayPal is not accepted. The methods shown depend on your country, so check the options on the payment step in myPTE before you rely on a particular card.
A payment that is declined, cancelled or charged back does not just fail quietly. Pearson cancels the test appointment or the test results, so a disputed charge can cost you a valid score. Because a chargeback cancels the booking or the results, raise any problem with a charge through Pearson’s Customer Support rather than through your bank.

Book with the exact details on your passport, and bring that original passport on test day.
Your name, date of birth, citizenship and gender in myPTE must match your ID exactly. If they do not, you are not allowed to sit the test and the fee is lost. Spotted a mistake? Send Pearson’s support form for a name correction at least three working days before the test day.
The ID must be the original, physical document, unexpired and issued no more than 10 years ago. Photocopies, certified copies, digital IDs and temporary IDs are refused. PTE Academic and UKVI need a passport; Pearson lists alternatives only for some countries. The photo must look like you now; if it no longer does, you need a new ID.

Pearson’s only eligibility rule is consent for under-18s; accommodations must be arranged before you book.
The one rule Pearson states is for test takers under 18: a parent or guardian completes the Parental Consent Form, and once it is approved it covers every test until the 18th birthday. Whether a score is then accepted is up to the university or visa authority that receives it, so check its requirement as well as Pearson’s.
If you need an accommodation, request it before booking, not after. Send the form at least six weeks before the test you want; Customer Support then contacts you and books the test for you. Pearson notes there are technical limits to what it can accommodate, so leave time for a reply before you commit to a deadline.

Scores stay valid for 2 years from the test date. Australia’s Home Affairs accepts scores up to 3 years old for some visa subclasses.

Your most recent test only, requested by phone within 14 calendar days of the result. A human scorer reviews spoken and open-ended written responses. The fee is refunded only if the overall or a skill score changes, and scores can go down.
A check of the test for a technical fault, requested within 15 business days of the result. It never changes scores; the test fee is refunded if a fault is found.

Rescheduling is free only with more than 14 days left before the test start time, up to six times per appointment. Within 14 days you cannot reschedule; you cancel and book again. Cancelling more than 14 days before returns the full fee, from 14 days down to just over 7 days returns 50%, and 7 days or less returns nothing.
You can take PTE up to 12 times in any 12-month window; more needs Pearson’s exception form. A rescore of your most recent test costs US$160 and must be requested within 14 calendar days of the result. A human scorer reviews the spoken and open-ended written responses, scores can go down as well as up, and the fee is refunded only if the overall or a communicative skill score changes.
