Booking the wrong PTE product is the most expensive mistake, because the fee is non-transferable and another full booking is needed. Confirm whether the receiving institution or authority requires PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI, or PTE Core before opening myPTE.
Test fees vary by country and test center, and Pearson updates them periodically. Treat any fee number you see outside myPTE as indicative — only the amount displayed at checkout in your account is the price you will actually be charged.
Free reschedules are only available outside the 14-day short-notice window, and a single appointment can be moved a limited number of times. Build a study plan that does not depend on a last-minute reschedule, because the option may not be there when it is needed.
A new test cannot be booked until the previous result is released, and only one appointment can be open at a time. The standard cap is 12 paid attempts in any rolling 12-month period. If a school or visa deadline genuinely needs more, a written exception must be requested from Pearson.
Pearson accepts most major credit and debit cards, and digital wallets such as Google Pay or Apple Pay where they are supported. The accepted methods vary by country, and a declined or reversed payment can cancel the appointment or hold the score release until the issue is resolved.
Test centers verify identity using a non-expired physical ID issued within the last ten years, and the booking details must match the ID exactly. Mismatched names, expired passports, or digital-only IDs lead to refused entry on test day, with no refund of the test fee.
PTE has no separate academic prerequisite — anyone can sit it, and acceptance is decided by the receiving institution or authority, not the test. Test takers under 18 need approved parental or guardian consent, and anyone who needs accessibility accommodations should request them through the official process before booking, because some requests change how the test is delivered.
Pearson can also reschedule or cancel an appointment from its side — for example, if a center closes or a session is rebalanced. In those cases the test taker is contacted directly and offered either a free reschedule or a full refund.
Fees are set by Pearson per country and change over time — always confirm the exact amount for your test centre in myPTE before paying. These figures were checked against Pearson pricing in July 2026.

As of July 2026, Pearson charges ₹18,900 including GST in India, A$490 in Australia, C$360 in Canada (Academic), £230 in the UK, AED 1,450 in the UAE, US$248.60 in Nepal, US$240 in Pakistan and US$265 in the USA. There is no late-booking surcharge, though you must book at least 24 hours before the test.
Rescheduling is free only more than 14 full days before the test, up to six times per appointment; within 14 days there is no reschedule option at all — you must cancel and rebook. Refunds are 100% with more than 14 days’ notice, 50% at 7–14 days and nothing after that.
You can sit PTE a maximum of 12 times in any rolling 12-month period. A rescore costs US$160 and must be requested within 14 days; a human examiner rescores the entire test, the fee is refunded if any score changes, and scores can go down as well as up.
