Score Band

An informal term, not official Pearson vocabulary. PTE reports exact scores on the 10–90 Global Scale of English — there are no named bands on a score report. In practice, learners and agents talk in 'bands' around the thresholds institutions commonly ask for: 50, 58, 65 and 79 overall. These loosely track the July 2025 Pearson–IELTS concordance, where IELTS 6.5 corresponds to PTE 55–62, 7.0 to 63–70, 7.5 to 71–78 and 8.0 to 79–85. Treat bands as shorthand for planning; your report will always show precise numbers.

In plain language

Ignore talk of 'bands' on results day — your report shows exact numbers. Use common targets like 58, 65 or 79 only to set your study goal.
