GSE (Global Scale of English)
The Global Scale of English, Pearson's 10–90 measurement scale on which every PTE score is reported — the overall score and each of the four communicative skills. The GSE is a granular scale rather than a set of bands, which is why PTE reports exact numbers such as 63 or 79 instead of half-band steps. It underpins comparisons with other frameworks: Pearson aligns the GSE to the CEFR, and the official July 2025 concordance maps GSE scores to IELTS bands (for example, IELTS 7.0 corresponds to PTE 63–70).
In plain language
Every PTE number you see lives on this 10–90 scale — learn where your target sits on it and track your practice scores against that exact point.
