Glossary term
Integrated Task
A PTE task type that tests two or more skills in a single item — for example listening then writing, or reading then speaking — with the response feeding marks into more than one communicative skill. Integrated tasks are a defining feature of PTE and a key reason your overall score is not a simple average of the four skills. The August 2025 update added two new integrated speaking tasks to PTE Academic, Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation, taking Academic to 22 task types while PTE Core stayed at 19.
In plain language
Practise skills in combination, not isolation — most PTE marks come from tasks where listening, reading, speaking and writing overlap.
