Fluency

Oral fluency is a speaking trait in PTE's automated scoring that measures the smoothness and natural rhythm of your speech — even pacing, appropriate phrasing, and freedom from hesitations, false starts and repetitions. It is judged by the scoring algorithms rather than a human listener, so steady, continuous delivery matters more than a native-like accent. Oral fluency was one of the 'enabling skills' shown on score reports until November 2021; it now feeds into the Skills Profile that only the test taker can see, while contributing to the Speaking score on the 10–90 scale.
