AI Scoring
PTE Academic and PTE Core are marked entirely by Pearson's automated scoring system rather than human examiners. Algorithms trained on large sets of human-rated responses assess each answer against traits such as content, oral fluency, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and form, and many items award partial credit. Automated marking is why results typically arrive within 48 hours (and no later than five business days). If you believe the machine got it wrong, Pearson offers a whole-test human rescore for US$160, requested within 14 days of your result.
In plain language
A computer, not a human, marks your whole test — so practise for the algorithm: speak clearly, keep to word limits, and don't rely on examiner goodwill.
