Communicative Skills

The four skills reported on every PTE score report: Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing, each scored from 10 to 90 on the Global Scale of English. Many PTE tasks are integrated, meaning one response can contribute marks to more than one communicative skill, which is also why your overall score is not a simple average of the four. Until November 2021 Pearson also reported six 'enabling skills'; these were removed and replaced by a Skills Profile that only the test taker can see. Universities and visa authorities usually set requirements per skill as well as overall.

In plain language

Your target usually applies to each skill separately, so train your weakest skill first — a high overall won't rescue one low skill.
